We are taking great care but are unaware of how we can keep ourselves healthy with a little precaution. Sometimes a little care can prevent us from diseases. The hands are the part of our body from which we touch our eyes, nose, mouth, doorknobs, cupboards, and clothes, etc many times a day and if our hands are not clean then the harmful germs will enter our body and make us sick.
Let’s take a view on a different simple to fatal diseases transmitted by hands
Salmonella bacterium lived in the intestine of humans and animals and cause nausea, vomiting, headache, abdominal cramps, blood in the stool. This bacteria is transmitted when the hands are improperly washed after usage of the toilet, uncooked, and those meals that are prepared with unclean hands.
• Many foods become contaminated when prepared by people who don’t wash their hands properly after using the toilet or after changing a diaper. It also can occur if you touch something that is contaminated, including animals, especially birds, and then put your fingers in your mouth.
Escherichia Coli lives in the intestines of healthy people and animals. It has many types, some are harmful while others are beneficial.
One of its types is Shiga-toxin-producing E.coli (STEC). It is found in the environment and raw food. Its strains can cause serious illness in humans by releasing toxins that can lead to serious complications like hemolytic uremia syndrome (UHS) which can be fatal, bloody diarrhea, and vomiting. This STEC is spread by raw foods and unwashed hands directly contacted with contaminated surfaces and objects. Washing hands frequently and avoiding contaminated surfaces can protect you from (STEC).
A known and frequently discussed virus in the year 2020 is a coronavirus that caused millions of people to die.
•It is a fatal viral infection spread by hands direct contacted with its strain and then touching hand on face, it also transmitted from person to person through respiratory droplets produced when infected person sneeze or cough. According to a study published in the Journal “Clinical Infectious Diseases,” Covid-19 can live on hands for 9 hours if unwashed. You should wash your hand with soap or warm water for 20 seconds after and before direct contact with any person and object to prevent Covid-19
4- Hand-and-Foot-Mouth Disease
A contagious viral disease most commonly caused by infection with coxsackievirus which spread from person to person and direct contact through hands. As a treatment, you should be washing your hands regularly and teaching your kids and friends to do the same. Encourage them to keep their hands out of their mouths.
It is an uncommon but life-threatening disease that causes inflammation of meninges covering the brain and spinal cord.
• It can be both viral and bacterial infection. It is transmitted through close contact with people including (touching hands, cough, sneeze, kissing, etc).
Precaution is better than cure so make sure to wash your hands properly at least five times a day. According to research almost 80% of infections spread due to unwashed hands. Wash your hands, keep. yourself clean and live a hygienic life.
