The 30-year-old Actor Eddie Hassell, who appeared in the Oscar-nominated 2010 film “The Kids Are All Right” and NBC’s 2005-06 sci-fi series Surface, has died after being shot in Texas, Hassell’s manager confirmed.
According to the Deadline Eddie Hassell was shot in the stomach outside his girlfriend’s apartment in Grand Prairie, Texas at approximately 1:00 A.M. Sunday.
Hassell’s girlfriend was in her apartment when it happened but she did not see the attacker. His neighbors came to his help and called emergency services and transported him to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Although the incident is currently under investigation and as of now, the motive for the shooting is unclear and there is no suspect in custody.
Hassell was born on July 16, 1990, in Corsicana, Texas. He got into acting as a child, appearing in several TV shows during the 2000s and 2010s, most notably as Clay in the 2010 film “The Kids Are All Right,” also starring Julianne Moore and Mark Ruffalo and earned a best picture nod at the 2011 Oscars. Hassell also played Phil Nance on NBC’s sci-fi series “Surface”.
Hassell had numerous TV credits on prominent shows including Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, Southland, ‘Til Death, Longmire, and Bones. He also appeared in the feature films Jobs Warrior Road, Family Weekend, The Family Tree, among others.
