Honey is a thick liquid sugar, comes from the honey bees. It contains higher nutrients than any other sugar. It also includes antioxidants, minerals, and vitamins. As compared to other sugars, honey is easily digest able. Honey delivers good taste in smoothies, sauces, bakery items and salad dressings. Honey contains more sweetness than sugar, hence it should be consumed in less amount.
Dates have rich amount of fibers, minerals and vitamins. Paste of dates is used as a sweetener in diet and deserts. As dates add more nutritional value to food hence it is considered as the best alternate of sugar.
Maple syrup is extracted from the black maple trees. It carries high ratio of antioxidants, calcium, potassium, zinc and iron. Due to rich nature of calories, maple syrup should be used moderately. Deserts including pancakes waffles, oatmeal and plain yogurt, are made tasteful through maple syrup. Savory dishes such as vegetables, salmon, or dressing are also made by using the maple syrup.
Stevia is a natural shrub found in the South America and also known as Stevia Rebaudiana. It is almost 200 times sugared than the table sugar. Stevia is helpful in losing weight treating pancreatic cancer and maintaining blood sugar. Stevia is used in the form of droplets and powder. Its drops are added to drinks, sauces, salad and soup to give them sweet flavor.
Xylitol is a naturally acquired alcohol. It is extracted from certain fruit and vegetables. Xylitol has 2.4 calories in one gram, which is 40% less than sugar. It does not raise either blood sugar level or insulin level. Human beings can easily tolerate it. In fact it is beneficial in improving the dental and bone health.
