Alienware Co-Founder Frank Azor Is Leaving Dell, Rumors Point To AMD

Frank Azor, one of the co-founder and public face of Alienware as well as the longtime overseer of Dell’s gaming and XPS divisions and has been with Alienware for over 21 years, has announced that he is leaving the company on July 3rd, Azor announced he is taking on a new challenge with a message of thanks on the Alienware community board." It's not clear where exactly he will end up, however rumors point to Azor having accepted a role at AMD as Chief Gaming Officer.

According to Wccftech, he may be leaving to join AMD to become AMD first Chief Gaming Officer reporting to Sandeep Chennakeshu, executive vice president of computing and graphics business group at AMD.







Frank Azor co-founded Alienware back in 1998.Dell bought Alienware in 2006 and Azor stayed with the brand until 2012. Later, in 2014, his role was more clearly defines as Vice President and General Manager Alienware, Gaming and XPS at Dell. He has been a big part of Dell's efforts in the PC gaming space, including the company's more affordable Inspiron Gaming line, launched in 2017.


"I’m so proud of what we’ve built together. Our gaming and premium consumer businesses are outperforming the market and are a huge priority for Dell," he wrote. "But the builder and creator in me is ready for the next challenge. It will be very hard to leave this incredible team."

In his farewell message, Azor said that "leaving [Alienware] is hard," which is probably an understatement, given his longstanding history with the company. But Azor doesn't give us much more than a teaser about what pastures new he will roam.
