Bugatti 3D Printed Brake Caliper Tested To Its Limits

Volkswagen has released a new video testing the world's first 3D printed brake caliper. The video showcases Bugatti 3D printed brake caliper being tested to its limits.

Bugatti 3D printed brake caliper has eight-piston, and is 41 cm long, 21 cm wide and 13.6 cm high, weighs only 2.9 kg which is about 40% lighter than the aluminium component currently used. It has a tensile strength of 1,250 N/mm2 which means that it can withstand 125 kg of force per square millimeter. 

It takes 45 hours to print a brake caliper, titanium powder is deposited layer by layer, and it requires a total of 2,213 layers.
